Gujarat Titans have enlisted Sandeep Warrier as the replacement for the injured Mohammed Shami for the IPL 2024 season.
As the highly anticipated 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) kicks off on March 22, all ten franchises are gearing up for intense competition. However, the Gujarat Titans will face a setback with the absence of their key player, Mohammed Shami, who is currently recovering from heel surgery.
To fill the void, the Titans have enlisted Sandeep Warrier as Shami’s replacement for the upcoming season, securing his services for his base price of INR 50 Lacs. Warrier, aged 32, has just one T20I under his belt from 2021 amid the pandemic, but he brings IPL experience from five matches with Kolkata Knight Riders during the 2019-21 seasons.
Gujarat Titans’ fast-bowling options for the 2024 season include Australian speedster Spencer Johnson, for whom they spent a hefty 10 crores INR. Johnson will lead alongside Azmatullah Omarzai, Umesh Yadav, and Mohit Sharma, forming a strong bowling lineup.
The Gujarat Giants, led by newly appointed skipper Shubman Gill, will start their IPL 2024 campaign with a crucial home game against the Mumbai Indians. The match will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on March 24.
