The IPL match on April 13th between the Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings got as intense as possible as the former secured a nail-biting finish in the second last ball.
The match between the IPL table-topper Rajasthan Royals and the bottom-dwelling Punjab Kings saw the latter’s defeat as the former chased a 148-run target and defeated PBKS by 3 wickets. Winning the toss, the Rajasthan Royals chose to bowl first.
Put to bat first, PBKS had a weak start, with Atharva Taide gone in the fourth over, falling prey to Avesh Khan. PBKS’ current skipper, Sam Curran, also failed to impress as he left in the tenth over, scoring only six runs. PBKS was standing at 70-5 at the end of 12.1 overs. With the top order of PBKS falling like a house of cards, it was only Jitesh Sharma and the impact player Ashutosh Sharma’s inning that revived the team and helped them reach a respectable total.

RR’s bowlers shone, with Avesh Khan and Keshav Maharaj securing two wickets each. Notably, Trent Boult was the only RR bowler who gave away the fewest runs (21-1) during his four-over spell.
In reply, RR had a slow yet decent start, however, Punjab’s bowlers almost clinched the game away from them. Though openers Tanush Kotian and Yashasvi Jaiswal gave a steady start, the rapid fall of four wickets between the 12th and 18th overs shook the RR camp.
Amidst the PBKS bowlers, Kagiso Rabada had the best bowling figures (18-2) in four overs. Arshdeep, however, proved to be expensive as the bowler conceived 45 runs and gave the match away in the final over as Hetmyer hit him for a six to seal off the game with one ball to spare.
