IPL 2025 Auction Set for Riyadh
The IPL 2025 mega auction was reported to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on November 24 and 25, marking a significant shift for the event.
The dates and venue for the IPL 2025 mega auction are nearly confirmed, with Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, likely to host the event on November 24 and 25, as reported by Sportstar. Last year’s auction was held in Dubai, UAE, but for the first time, the Indian Premier League auction will take place in Riyadh or any other city in Saudi Arabia. This decision marks a significant shift, highlighting the BCCI’s intent to expand the IPL’s global reach.
While London and Singapore were considered as possible venues, Saudi Arabia was chosen due to its favourable time zone for broadcasting, a key revenue stream for the tournament. With Disney Star and Jio serving as major broadcasters, the location needed to cater to their requirements as well.
An official announcement from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expected soon, as the franchises have already been informally informed about the tentative schedule. The final announcement is crucial for the teams to arrange logistics, with a three-day stay planned for all delegations, including ten franchises and the broadcasting crew.

The auction will be a critical moment for all teams, as they aim to strengthen their squads for the upcoming IPL seasons. According to new IPL rules, each franchise can retain a maximum of six players, including one uncapped player, with the retention deadline set for October 31.
