Mumbai Indians (MI), five-time IPL champions, announced their player retention list ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, retaining five core Indian players. Despite a challenging 2024 season, MI has retained star names Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, and Tilak Varma, spending Rs 75 crore to secure their services for the upcoming season.
Rohit, who was expected to part ways after losing captaincy, remains part of the MI setup along with Suryakumar, T20I captain, and Bumrah, the team’s pace spearhead.
Mumbai Indians’ retention list includes:
- Jasprit Bumrah (Rs 18 crore)
- Hardik Pandya (Rs 16.35 crore)
- Suryakumar Yadav (Rs 16.35 crore)
- Rohit Sharma (Rs 16.30 crore)
- Tilak Varma (Rs 8 crore)
The released players include Ishan Kishan, Dewald Brevis, and Jason Behrendorff, freeing up MI’s purse for the auction.
