The Afghanistan Cricket Board is reportedly considering withholding No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for Mujeeb ur Rahman, Fazalhaq Farooqi, and Neveen ul Haq for two years.

Reports from Crcibuzz suggest that the Afghanistan Cricket Board’s special committee advised against granting No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to Mujeeb ur Rahman, Fazalhaq Farooqi, and Neveen ul Haq for two years as they aimed to terminate their annual central contracts. Mujeeb had a deal with Kolkata Knight Riders, while Fazalhaq and Naveen were set to play for Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants in the upcoming IPL.

Furthermore, the ACB postponed the trio’s 2024 annual central contracts after discovering their involvement in commercial leagues, which was seen as prioritizing personal interests over national commitments. The players formally communicated their intention to the board and sought release from their contracts starting January 1, 2024, along with permission to participate in national events, as mentioned in an ACB committee member’s statement in the official announcement.

“The three players formally communicated their decision to the ACB, expressing their desire to release themselves from the annual central contract, starting from 1st January 2024, as well as requested to consider their consent for their participation in the national events,” a committee member was quoted in an official statement.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board’s decision prioritizes national interests, adhering to its core values. It underscores the importance for all players to uphold these values and prioritize the country’s interests over personal ones.

The committee proposed recommendations to the ACB, outlining actions regarding the three players:

Firstly, starting January 1, 2024, the players won’t receive central contracts for a year, with the ACB having the discretion to decide their participation in events if required. Secondly, there’s a suggestion to withhold No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for these players for two years, revoking their current NOCs immediately.

Lastly, the ACB aims to transparently convey its stance to the cricketing community, including the ICC, ACC, Member Countries/Cricket Boards, and the Afghanistan Public.
