In a lately released medical update, BCCI has officially declared Rishabh Pant fit to play and also ruled out Mohammed Shami and Prasidh Krishna for IPL 2024.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially declared wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant fit to play in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season.
Pant has undergone a rigorous 14-month rehabilitation and recovery process to regain his fitness. The official update, signed by BCCI secretary Jay Shah, was published on the BCCI website, “After undergoing an extensive 14-month rehab and recovery process, following a life-threatening road mishap on December 30th, 2022, near Roorkee, Uttarakhand, Rishabh Pant has now been declared fit as a wicket-keeper batter for the upcoming TATA IPL 2024.”
The BCCI update also provided information on the fitness status of other Indian players. Fast bowler Prasidh Krishna, who underwent surgery on his left knee in February 2024, will miss the IPL season. The report states that Krishna “is currently being monitored by the BCCI Medical Team and will resume rehab at the National Cricket Academy soon. He will not be able to take part in the upcoming TATA IPL 2024.”
Similarly, fast bowler Mohammed Shami will also be sidelined for the IPL. He recently underwent surgery on his right heel and remains under observation. “He is currently being monitored by the BCCI medical team and is ruled out of the upcoming TATA IPL 2024.” read the report.
