Legendary pacer Brett Lee predicted Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) as a strong contender for the IPL 2024 title based on their past performance and recent changes.

Former Australian cricketer and legendary bowler Brett Lee recently weighed in on the race for the IPL 2024 championship, offering his pick for the winner and backing his prediction with insightful reasoning.

In a News18 show called the ‘Rising Bharat Summit, the veterinary pacer shared his opinions. “After reviewing all the teams, I genuinely believe Royal Challengers Bengaluru have a strong chance this season, despite AB’s presence. They have fielded one of the top squads for several years, albeit with varying approaches. In India, teams often change names or jersey colours to reverse fortunes. Perhaps these new tweaks will finally lead RCB to fill their trophy cabinet,” said Lee, as quoted by News18.

AB de Villiers, a former RCB player, was also present in that show and opined that RCB is destined to win. “The men’s squad should bring the trophy like the women. The curse is broken; this could be their year. I believe the RCB men can win it all; they will win. You must be patient with sports; it’s unpredictable, making it exciting. Once the RCB men get their first victory, more will follow.” said de Villiers.

While CSK aims to defend their title, RCB enters the season with renewed hope after a disappointing sixth-place finish last year, with the team managing only seven wins in 14 matches.

With the tournament underway, all eyes will be on RCB to see if they can live up to Lee’s prediction and translate their past potential into a coveted IPL championship title.

The much-anticipated Indian Premiere League kicks off on March 22nd at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The curtain-raiser features the defending champions, Chennai Super Kings, facing the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
