In an interview with Samaa TV, Hasan Ali, the Pakistani fast-bowler, expressed his keen desire to participate in the prestigious Indian Premier League (IPL), acknowledging its significant stature marked by substantial financial rewards and glamour. While implying some barriers for Pakistani players participating, Hasan underlined his personal wish to play in the IPL, reiterating that if given the opportunity, he would unquestionably participate.
“IPL is a big league, it has a lot of money and glamour but every player wants to take part in it. It’s not like no one wants to play. But obviously, we can’t play there for reasons I don’t want to talk about everyone knows. I wish to play there. If given the opportunity I will definitely play there,” Hasan said.
Hasan Ali was a late addition to Pakistan’s 2023 World Cup squad, stepping in for Naseem Shah due to an injury. In the tournament, he secured 9 wickets across six games. However, Pakistan’s overall performance wasn’t stellar, failing to secure a top-four spot.
Currently leading in the World Test Championship (WTC) standings after winning two games against Sri Lanka, Pakistan is gearing up for a three-match series in Australia starting December 14, 2023. This tour provides them a chance to rebound from the World Cup setback. Hasan Ali, alongside the Pakistani team, seeks to confront the formidable Australian side on their home ground.
