Expressing regret over Iyer’s absence in IPL 2023, Mysore expressed delight in having him back as captain, praising Iyer’s dedication and recovery.
Acknowledging Rana’s admirable stint as captain in Iyer’s absence last season, Mysore expressed gratitude for Rana’s support and affirmed his role as Vice Captain, highlighting their mutual efforts to strengthen the team.

Upon his reinstatement as KKR captain, Shreyas Iyer lauded Nitish Rana’s exceptional leadership during his absence, acknowledging the challenges faced in the previous season. Expressing gratitude, Iyer commended Rana’s adept handling of the team and welcomed KKR’s decision to appoint him as Vice-Captain.
“I believe the last season presented us with several challenges, including my absence due to injury. Nitish did a great job not only filling in for me but also with his commendable leadership. I am delighted that KKR has named him Vice Captain. No doubt it will strengthen the leadership group,” said Iyer.
Additionally, KKR recently announced the return of Gautam Gambhir as their mentor. Gambhir, who led KKR to IPL victories in 2012 and 2014, rejoined the franchise after being released in 2018. Having mentored Lucknow Super Giants post-retirement, Gambhir brings valuable experience supporting KKR’s upcoming campaign.
