Chennai Super Kings CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed that MS Dhoni has committed to playing for the franchise in the upcoming IPL season.
MS Dhoni will play for Chennai Super Kings in the next Indian Premier League season. The franchise’s CEO, Kasi Viswanathan, confirmed the news. He has been with CSK since its inception in 2008, just like Dhoni.
Viswanathan recently assured a young fan about Dhoni’s availability. On Friday, he reiterated this point to Cricbuzz. When asked for confirmation, Viswanathan said, “that’s right.” He provided a direct quote from the player, stating, “MS has told us that he will be available for the next season.”
This confirmation ends speculation about the future of the 44-year-old former Indian captain. Dhoni’s participation has been a recurring question before recent seasons.

The confirmation comes amid information that a trade issue for Sanju Samson is back on the table for CSK. The team had a difficult previous season, finishing at the bottom of the table. Dhoni led the side in the absence of their regular skipper, Ruturaj Gaikwad.
Dhoni has been the cornerstone of CSK for most of the IPL’s history. If he plays next season, it will be his 17th for the franchise and 19th overall. He has played 248 matches for CSK, scoring 4,865 runs. He has led the team to five IPL titles in 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021, and 2023. He was absent for only two seasons when the team was suspended from the league.
