Mumbai Indians dismissed speculations about Rohit Sharma’s trade amid the appointment of Hardik Pandya as the new skipper, affirming that the veteran opener remains an integral part of the team.
As the anticipation for the 17th edition of the IPL mounts, the cricketing arena witnessed a flurry of trades and high-profile player movements among various franchises gearing up for the much-awaited tournament. Leading up to the IPL auction, reports were rife about numerous teams eyeing a trade deal with Mumbai Indians, involving their former skipper, Rohit Sharma. Amid these talks, star all-rounder Hardik Pandya was unveiled as the new skipper, displacing Rohit from the leadership role.

Yet, a senior official from the Mumbai Indians franchise has vehemently refuted these rumors, labeling them as entirely baseless and lacking credibility.
“The news reports are totally fake and false. No MI player will be leaving us nor will be traded by us, every player was taken into confidence before the decision was made. Rohit too was informed, and he is very much part of the decision-making process,” the MI official told when speaking to Cricbuzz.
Reports surfaced suggesting discontent among certain Mumbai Indians (MI) players following Rohit Sharma’s removal from the captaincy, triggering speculation of potential trades. With the trade window opening soon, teams like Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals showed interest in acquiring Rohit. Although one of these teams approached MI for a trade, the champions declined all offers. The interested franchise, acknowledging their interest earlier, has now opted out of pursuing the deal.
