Delhi Capitals’ official PKSV Sagar expressed optimism about Rishabh Pant participation in the upcoming IPL 2024, citing his recovery progress and the team’s anticipation for his crucial role in the season.
Delhi Capitals (DC) official PKSV Sagar shared a significant update on Rishabh Pant Fitness status, expressing the possibility of the wicketkeeper-batsman’s participation in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL). Pant, recovering from a near-fatal car accident in December 2022, has shown remarkable progress post-surgery.
Accumulating 2,838 runs in 98 matches for DC since 2016, Pant’s potential return adds strength to the team. His presence during DC’s camp in Kolkata, discussions on player retention, and involvement with support staff hinted at his active role.
Sagar expressed hope for Pant’s comeback, emphasizing the positive impact on the team’s performance. The DC physio and coaches are actively working on Rishabh Pant Fitness recovery, aiming for his fitness by March.
“Yes, we are hoping for the best we can expect that he will play this season. He is the biggest player…..if he plays then it will be good for us. Our coaches and physio are doing work on him and the best part is that he is recovering very well. We hope by March he will fit and play for us,” Sagar was quoted as saying by NDTV.
Ahead of the IPL 2024 auction in December, Delhi Capitals Director of Cricket Sourav Ganguly had also expressed hope for Rishabh Pant’s return to the T20 league. Currently undergoing rehab at the National Cricket Academy, Pant recently delighted fans as he engaged in batting practice at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium and interacted with the Indian cricket team before the 3rd T20I against Afghanistan.
