Ahead of IPL 2024, reports indicate that Delhi Capitals are poised to release Sarfaraz Khan and Manish Pandey, while the franchise faces uncertainty regarding the future of star opener Prithvi Shaw.
Ahead of the upcoming mini-auction for IPL, all franchises, including Delhi Capitals (DC), are finalizing their retention lists by November 26. Rajasthan Royals have traded Devdutt Padikkal for Lucknow Super Giants’ Avesh Khan, signaling the onset of changes.
Reports from news agency IANS reveal DC’s decision to release players like Sarfaraz Khan and Manish Pandey, while the status of star opener Prithvi Shaw remains uncertain within the franchise’s plans.
Sarfaraz struggled in IPL 2023, scoring 53 runs in 4 matches at a 13.25 average. In 50 games, he has 585 runs at 22.50 average. Manish Pandey had a tough IPL with 160 runs in 10 games at a 17.78 average. Despite his IPL century, Pandey has 3808 runs in 170 matches. Reports hint at CSK trading him next season.
Further, DC’s skipper Rishabh Pant, recuperating from a severe car accident last December, is poised for a return. His injuries sidelined him, undergoing rehabilitation at Bengaluru’s national cricket academy. After a year away from action, Pant eyes his comeback in IPL 2024.
The IPL auction for the 2024 season is set for December 19 in Dubai, eagerly anticipated for teams’ compositions.
