Delhi Capitals’ head coach Ricky Ponting delivered a motivational post-match speech after their defeat to Punjab Kings in IPL 2024.
Following their season-opening defeat to the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the IPL 2024, Delhi Capitals (DC) head coach Ricky Ponting addressed his team in the dressing room, offering a blend of encouragement and constructive criticism.
Despite the loss, Ponting’s post-match speech, available in a video posted by DC on their X (Twitter) handle, showcased his optimistic outlook. He acknowledged several positive aspects of the team’s performance to boost the morale of the team. Watch the video below:
The video showcased Ponting elaborating on the team’s overall stats in the match with a positive outlook. “Today was just one of those almost days where we were almost good enough with the bat. Everyone looked really good with the bat. We were almost there with the bat, probably the same with the ball. We were almost good enough with the ball; however, the execution wasn’t quite there.”
Concluding his motivational talk for the team, Ponting said, “It’s a long tournament; I would have loved to have won today, but keep the attitude up. Nothing changes after one game. Chin up and have fun.”
Speaking of the match, DC started strong (39/0 in 3 overs) but lost wickets in the middle overs. Warner (29) and Marsh (20) provided stability before a collapse. Only late fireworks from the impact player Porel (32) offered resistance. However, DC failed to defend the score as the bowlers failed to capitalise and let Sam Curran (63) and Liam Livingstone (38) drive the match away from them.
Rishabh Pant and Co. will continue their IPL 2024 journey as they take on the Rajasthan Royals on March 28th in Jaipur.
