Rishabh Pant impressed the Delhi Capitals’ assistant coach Pravin Amre with his ‘vintage’ batting form during net sessions.

The return of Rishabh Pant to the cricket field is a welcome sight for the Delhi Capitals (DC) franchise and its fans. Declared fully fit by the BCCI earlier this week, Pant is gearing up for his comeback in the upcoming IPL season by smashing in the nets.

DC’s assistant coach, Pravin Amre, expressed his delight at witnessing Pant’s return to form. “As coaching unit and personally, it was really pleasing to see him bat. It didn’t feel like he was batting after a long time. The bat swing was vintage. We have to give credit to him. The way he has worked hard throughout the year is not easy. It shows how mentally strong and hungry he is,” Amre was quoted as saying by DC in a media release. He stressed that Pant’s bat swings show that he has not lost a beat, despite the lengthy break from competitive cricket.

DC will kick off their IPL campaign with their first two home matches scheduled for Visakhapatnam (Vizag). “Vizag has always been a high-scoring ground, and that’s what we wanted. It has got that true bounce, and we are just looking forward to seeing what it has to offer,” said Amre.

He further emphasised the importance of providing a pitch that allows their players, including the in-form Rishabh Pant, to perform at their best.

“The thing that matters the most is to start the tournament on a good note, and it is important to provide that kind of surface where our players give their best for the team. We will also be playing practice matches. So, that will help us cover all bases going into the tournament,” Amre added. Pant’s absence in the previous IPL season was a significant blow for DC. Led by veteran opener David Warner, the team failed to qualify for the playoffs. The return of their star wicketkeeper-batter brings renewed hope to the Delhi Capitals camp as they start the season by facing the Punjab Kings on March 23rd.
