Sanju Samson

Sanju Samson was reportedly close to rejoining Delhi Capitals in a trade that would send Tristan Stubbs to Rajasthan Royals ahead of the IPL 2026 mini-auction.

Sanju Samson was reportedly set to make a sensational return to Delhi Capitals in what could be one of the biggest trades ahead of the IPL 2026 mini-auction. According to a report by The Times of India, Delhi are planning to trade wicketkeeper-batter Tristan Stubbs to Rajasthan Royals in exchange for Samson, with just about a month left before the auction.

With Samson keen to leave Rajasthan Royals, both franchises have been in active discussions, exploring multiple trade options. However, as per the report, while Delhi are eager to secure Samson’s services, they are not willing to part with any of their core players.

Star India wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul’s name also came up during the trade talks, but Delhi refused to release him, considering his stellar performance last season and the brand value he brings to the franchise.

Trade Talks Intensify Ahead of IPL 2026 Mini-Auction

Reports added that Rajasthan were open to signing Stubbs but also demanded one additional uncapped cricketer from Delhi as part of the deal. Delhi, however, declined the offer, increasing the likelihood of Samson donning the DC colours once again next season.

The report further revealed that Rajasthan have been exploring trade options for Samson with other franchises over the past few months. The Royals even approached Chennai Super Kings with a swap proposal involving all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.

Rajasthan had proposed a “Samson-for-Jadeja swap,” but the talks fizzled out after initial discussions. As of now, Samson’s move to Delhi and Stubbs’ transfer to Rajasthan appear possible, provided there are no last-minute roadblocks.

Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders are keeping an eye on KL Rahul, hoping to bring in an experienced leader and top-order batter. The strong bond between KKR’s new head coach Abhishek Nayar and Rahul is well known, and the management is eager to reunite the duo. However, sources suggest that Kolkata currently lack tradeable assets that would interest Delhi, making a potential swap unlikely at this stage.
