Former RCB skipper Virat Kohli shared a candid moment during the innings break that made the crowd laugh.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter and former skipper Virat Kohli stole the show not just with his batting skills and an unwavering fifty, but also with an unintentionally hilarious moment during the 10th match of IPL 2024 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Kohli’s unbeaten knock of 83 runs played a pivotal role in pushing RCB to a competitive total of 182 for six wickets. However, it was his reaction during the inning break that left the fans as well as the commentators chuckling.
As teammate Cameron Green presented Kohli with the Orange Cap for being the tournament’s leading run-scorer, Kohli, who is otherwise known for his aggressive yet nonchalant mannerisms on the field, displayed a moment of genuine surprise.
Green, perhaps caught in the moment, mistakenly handed Kohli the microphone as well, expecting him to participate in a post-innings interview. Kohli, however, hilariously threw the mic back to Green as the latter came to share his thoughts about RCB’s innings. Watch the video below:
While Kohli’s batting heroics were not enough to secure victory for RCB, KKR emerged triumphant in their away match. Chasing a target of 183 runs, KKR’s aggressive batting line-up, spearheaded by Sunil Narine’s explosive 47 runs off just 22 balls, sealed their win.
Despite Kohli’s brilliance, KKR’s strategic approach, combined with Narine, Salt and Venkatesh’s power-packed innings, and Russell and Harshit Rana’s bowling prowess, ultimately led RCB to lose two matches out of the three they played in this season of IPL.
Nevertheless, the two teams will next face each other on April 21st at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
