Hardik Pandya’s move from Gujarat Titans to Mumbai Indians before IPL 2024, a high-profile transfer, was an all-cash trade, with no player exchanged back to Gujarat.
Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya has made a significant move to his former team, Mumbai Indians, ahead of IPL 2024, confirmed before the auction. The transfer, an all-cash deal worth INR 15 crore, saw no player exchanged to Gujarat Titans. Initially retained by Gujarat before the retention deadline, Pandya’s trade occurred post-deadline but fell within the trading window ending on December 12.
Previously, Pandya had a seven-season stint with Mumbai before his release in 2022. This transaction marks Pandya’s return to Mumbai Indians, concluding a noteworthy trade with no other players involved.
Hardik expressed his delight on Twitter, sharing a video expressing happiness about rejoining Mumbai Indians. He reminisced fond memories in the team, expressing eagerness to excel in his comeback. His caption, “This brings back so many wonderful memories. Mumbai. Wankhede. Paltan. Feels good to be back,” reflected his excitement.
“When I come back, it has to be worth it. I should step ahead of my game,” Hardik can be heard saying in the video.

Mumbai Indians released England’s Jofra Archer, Chris Jordan, and other players ahead of the upcoming IPL. Archer’s season was marred by injuries, hampering his performance, managing only two wickets in five matches.
Indian players like Arshad Khan, Ramandeep Singh, Hrithik Shokeen, Raghav Goyal, and Sandeep Warrier were also released. Young talents like Tristan Stubbs, Duan Jansen, and Riley Meredith didn’t make the cut.
Despite retaining core players, MI aims for a stronger season after reaching the playoffs last year but losing to Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2.
