Ravichandran Ashwin forecasted potential high-value players for the IPL 2024 auction based on their standout performances in the recent 2023 ODI World Cup.
In the IPL 2024 auction, set to unfold at Dubai’s Coca-Cola Arena on December 19, 333 cricketers will be up for grabs. Among them, 214 are Indian players, 119 are from overseas, and two hail from associate nations. The lineup comprises 116 capped and 215 uncapped players, vying for 77 available slots, including 30 for overseas talents.
Notably, 23 players set their base price at INR 2 crore, while 13 aim for INR 1.5 crore. The champion team Gujarat Titans boasts the highest purse at INR 38.15 crore, while Lucknow Super Giants hold the lowest at INR 13.15 crore.
Ravichandran Ashwin has speculated on potential big-ticket players anticipated to fetch top bids at the upcoming auction. Notable figures on his list include Rachin Ravindra (INR 50 lakh base price), Travis Head (INR 2 crore), Daryl Mitchell (INR 1 crore), Wanindu Hasaranga (INR 1.5 crore), Harshal Patel (INR 2 crore), Shardul Thakur (INR 2 crore), Shahrukh Khan (INR 40 lakh), Pat Cummins (INR 2 crore), Mitchell Starc (INR 2 crore), and Gerald Coetzee (INR 2 crore).
Many of these players exhibited remarkable performances in the recent 2023 ODI World Cup, influencing Ashwin’s predictions. Sharing his insights, Ashwin, who remains with the Rajasthan Royals (RR), posted a video on Instagram pondering the accuracy of his choices.
