At the RCB Unbox event, Virat Kohli playfully admitted feeling embarrassed about being called “King” and requested fans to simply address him by his name.
Virat Kohli, known by many names, including the famous “King Kohli,” has rejoined the Royal Challengers Bangalore for the IPL 2024 season. At the RCB Unbox event at Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru, host Danish Sait’s question about how Kohli, nicknamed “The King,” was feeling evoked an explosive response from the crowd.
However, Kohli playfully expressed his embarrassment about the “King” title, urging fans to address him simply as Virat. “How is the King feeling?” Sait asked.
“Guys, we have to get to Chennai tonight we have a chartered flight so we don’t have time (laughs). Firstly, you need to stop calling me that word. I was telling Faf, it is very embarrassing for me when you call me that name every year, just call me Virat,” the former skipper replied light-heartedly.
“Hopefully we can double it up with the trophies. That’ll be something truly special. I am always going to be here, try to be part of the group that wins it for the first time. I will try my best with my ability and experience to do it for the fans and the franchise. It is a dream of mine as well to know what it feels like to win the IPL,” Kohli added.
Earlier, Virat Kohli and the Royal Challengers Bangalore men’s team honored Smriti Mandhana and her WPL squad by forming a guard of honor.
