Ishan Kishan remains unavailable for the ongoing Ranji Trophy, raising questions regarding his participation in the upcoming five-match Test series against England on home soil.
The speculation surrounding Ishan Kishan persists as the wicketkeeper-batter refrains from participating in the ongoing Ranji Trophy, missing the opportunity to stake his claim for the upcoming five-match Test series against England. Kishan had previously sought a break during the South Africa tour, citing mental fatigue, and with his exclusion from the home T20I series against Afghanistan, speculation arose about potential disciplinary actions.

Media reports suggested displeasure from the BCCI regarding Kishan’s activities in Dubai and a television game show appearance, contradicting his break request. While head coach Rahul Dravid rejected media claims, he emphasized Kishan’s need to engage in domestic cricket for a national team comeback.
Kishan’s home state team, Jharkhand, has commenced their Ranji Trophy journey, facing Saurashtra. JSCA Secretary Debasish Chakraborty stated to PTI that Kishan hasn’t communicated or confirmed his availability and his inclusion depends on when he informs them.
“No, Ishan hasn’t contacted or told us anything about his availability. Whenever he tells us, he will walk into the playing XI,” Chakraborty said.
As the team management eyes KL Rahul as a specialist batter due to injury worries, Ishan Kishan has a chance to be part of the squad for the upcoming England Tests. The selectors’ decision rests on considering Kishan’s limited recent playing time.
India is set to play the first Test of the five-match series against England at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad from January 25.
