Amidst India’s T20I series dominance against Australia, Ishan Kishan, displaying remarkable form, seeks to seal the series with his explosive batting after consecutive half-centuries.
Ishan Kishan, a standout performer in the ongoing T20I series against Australia, has exhibited exceptional form with consecutive half-centuries. With India eyeing a series victory after securing a 2-0 lead, Kishan’s pivotal role in the upcoming match at Guwahati looms large.
His recent chat with JioCinema unveiled insights into his preparation for enhancing power-hitting abilities. Reflecting on World Cup experiences, Kishan expressed a sense of missing out but highlighted the importance of readiness and seizing opportunities in international cricket.
Now India’s leading run-scorer in the ongoing series against Australia with two fifties and 110 runs, Kishan aims to solidify his spot for the 2024 T20 World Cup held in the West Indies and USA.
“I think it’s all hunger. In the World Cup, we played like a champion side, and I was missing out. I was feeling a bit bad, but you can’t help it. I did not play most of the games in the World Cup. I was sitting out after two matches, so there was a lot of practice that I did. I was talking to the coaches, with the captain, and I knew that when T20 comes, my time will come and I have to be in a good mindset,” Kishan said.
In a discussion about his batting technique, the wicketkeeper-batter emphasized his attacking style and credited his dietician and chef for enhancing his power-hitting abilities.
“I have always been an attacking batsman. When it comes to power-hitting the credit goes to my dietician and chef,” he said.
Focused on preparation for the 2024 T20 World Cup, Kishan also highlighted the significance of the India-Australia T20I series.
“We are just getting nine games before the World Cup, so we have to make the most of these opportunities. Going ahead, it’s important for us as a young team to analyze the wicket as soon as possible, adapt to the conditions, and play accordingly,” Kishan added.
India aims to move past their disappointing ODI World Cup final display, shifting focus towards the impending T20 World Cup. Several emerging talents are vying for inclusion in the squad, eyeing a spot in the upcoming tournament.
