Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah was hailed as a legend across all three cricket formats by former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja.
Jasprit Bumrah continues to garner praise for his exceptional bowling skills. This time, the praise comes from across the border, with former Pakistan captain and current PCB chairman Ramiz Raja praising Bumrah’s achievements.
Ramiz Raja, on his YouTube channel, did not hold back, declaring Bumrah “a legend in all three formats.” This sentiment resonated with many fans and pundits who recognised Bumrah’s consistent excellence in Test, ODI, and T20 cricket.
Bumrah’s recent return from a back injury has only strengthened his reputation. Raja’s comments are particularly interesting given the current state of flux within Indian cricket, specifically the T20I setup. Following India’s recent T20 World Cup victory, senior players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravindra Jadeja announced their retirements from the format. This has paved the way for a significant shift, with a younger, less experienced squad expected to take the reins.
“In my book, he’s (Bumrah) a legend of all three formats. To me, there hasn’t been a better bowler than Bumrah to have played all three formats of the game. You can see a boy who lacked confidence, had an awkward bowling action, and dealt with fitness issues, but he came back fully fit and won India the World Cup,” Raja said on his YouTube channel.
This focus on building a strong all-format team in India is further emphasised by the recent appointment of Gautam Gambhir as head coach. Gambhir, known for his aggressive batting and leadership qualities, has previously spoken about the importance of nurturing players who can excel across all three formats.
Notably, Jasprit Bumrah, a master of death bowling, boasts the third-best bowling figures for India (6/19) and the second-most maidens in full-member nations. In ODIs, Bumrah is the fastest Indian to reach 100 wickets and has been ranked number one in the ICC ODI bowler rankings. In First-Class cricket too, the pacer has bagged five-wicket hauls in a Test innings five times.
