Kolkata Knight Riders are reportedly exploring a trade for KL Rahul ahead of IPL 2026. This follows major coaching changes within the franchise. Rahul, who has played for five IPL teams so far, could join KKR as either a specialist batter or a captain, though the role is still unclear.

After a disappointing 2024 season with Lucknow Super Giants, where LSG missed the playoffs, Rahul was released and picked up by Delhi Capitals. He impressed with 539 runs in 13 matches, averaging 53.90 with a strike rate of 150. His form boosted Delhi’s campaign and carried over into Tests, making him a valuable player.

Meanwhile, KL Rahul has also been in outstanding form during the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy in England. He is India’s second-highest run-scorer in the series, with 511 runs from eight innings. Rahul opened the batting in all four Tests so far and has delivered two centuries and two fifties. His current average stands at an impressive 63.87. The right-hander’s consistency has been key to India’s competitive performances overseas.

As the fifth and final Test is ongoing at the Kennington Oval in London, Rahul will aim to close the tour on a strong note.
