Krunal Pandya expressed relief as he confirmed Mayank Yadav’s condition appeared fine after an injury scare during the match against Gujarat Titans, a reassuring sign for the team.
Mayank Yadav, the promising young fast-bowler for Lucknow Super Giants, had to leave the field after just one over against Gujarat Titans, conceding 13 runs with a loss of pace and three boundaries. However, following LSG’s victory by 33 runs, Krunal Pandya, the left-arm spin all-rounder for LSG, expressed relief as Mayank appeared okay after the match.
Reflecting on Mayank’s impact in the tournament, Krunal also praised his talent, recalling impressive spells against Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, emphasizing Mayank’s potential and resilience despite past injury setbacks.
“I don’t know what is happening, but I did have a brief couple of seconds’ chat — he seemed okay, which was quite a relief for us,” said Krunal to broadcasters.
“A bright prospect, I’d been watching him from last two years. He used to bowl gun in the nets. Last year, unfortunately, missed it (due to injury). But again, whatever conversation I have had, what I see is that he has a good head on his shoulders as well,” he added.
In LSG’s third victory, besides Yash Thakur’s five-wicket haul, Krunal made a significant impact by dismissing B. Sai Sudharsan, B.R. Sharath, and Darshan Nalkande with an economical spell of 3-11, showcasing his ability to adapt to the batsmen’s strengths and weaknesses. Reflecting on his strategy, Krunal emphasized his focus on bowling to his strengths and utilizing the longer boundary on the leg side to minimize the risk of getting hit.
Captain KL Rahul also praised the collective effort of the bowlers, despite Mayank’s absence, in defending their total on a challenging pitch. With three wins in four games, LSG currently holds the third position in the points table and is set to host Delhi Capitals in their upcoming match on April 12th.
