Despite Rajasthan Royals’ first loss this season to Gujarat Titans, the team remains hopeful due to Riyan Parag’s standout performances. Parag, the team’s number four batsman, has excelled this season after facing challenges since his 2019 debut, currently ranking second in run-scoring with 261 runs in five games.
Following the match, Sri Lankan cricket legend Sangakkara commented on Parag’s potential national team prospects, emphasizing the need for Parag to focus on Rajasthan and the ongoing season.
“I think his (Parag’s) potential is there for everyone to see. I think for Riyan it’s really about concentrating on Rajasthan and this season, and whatever happens will happen after that,” Sangakkara said.
“I think you should never get too ahead of looking at things to find the future. As long as he keeps his head down, he is working hard, he is batting well, he is very organised, he’s worked hard in the off-season, he just needs to keep doing those good things and, if he does all that, good things will happen,” he added.
Despite Riyan Parag’s impressive batting performance, Rajasthan Royals suffered their first loss of the season to Gujarat Titans. Next, the Royals face the Punjab Kings on April 13, while the Titans have a break until April 17, when they clash with the Delhi Capitals.
