Liam Livingstone of Punjab Kings will be heading back to England for knee treatment ahead of the T20 World Cup after the team’s disappointing IPL season.
Liam Livingstone, the all-rounder for both Punjab Kings and England, has departed from India earlier than expected to address his knee issues before the T20 World Cup in June. Having faced multiple muscle injuries over the past couple of years, he was sidelined for two matches in the IPL after sustaining a knee injury during a game against Lucknow Super Giants. Although briefly left out by PBKS, he returned for their recent match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
Livingstone expressed gratitude to Punjab Kings fans for their support despite the team’s disappointing season, acknowledging both personal and collective challenges while cherishing his time in the IPL.
“IPL done for another year, had to get my knee sorted for the upcoming World Cup. Thanks once again to the Punjab Kings fans for all their love and support. Disappointing season as a team and personally, but as always I loved every minute of playing in the IPL,” Livingstone wrote on his Instagram wall.
In the tournament, Punjab Kings have been eliminated, having secured four wins and suffered eight defeats in their first 12 games. Livingstone’s PBKS stint was disappointing; he scored 111 runs in 7 innings and took 3 wickets. This continues a rough patch after his quiet South Africa league season and a short stint with Sharjah Warriors.
