LSG head coach Justin Langer recently revealed that Mayank Yadav would not play the next two IPL matches as he is recovering from a hip injury.
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) fast bowler Mayank Yadav is set to miss the team’s next two matches due to a minor hip injury, according to Head Coach Justin Langer.
Notably, Yadav left the field after bowling just one over in LSG’s previous game against the Gujarat Titans. Earlier, the team’s chief executive reported a “soreness in the lower abdominal area” of Yadav which would need his workload to be managed.
Recently, coach Langer elaborated on the injury and shared an update about his recovery. “He felt a little bit of tightness at the top of his hip leading into the last game, but that was about a one-out-of-ten pain, and we thought that there were clinical signs,” Langer said in a press conference, as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

“But we had an MRI scan, and there is a very, very small swelling in there. So we are very hopeful he’ll start building himself up and be back bowling again soon,” remarked Langer.
What concerned the coach is the short turnaround between matches which makes it difficult for Yadav to recover in time for the next two games. Lucknow faces the Delhi Capitals on April 12th and will then travel to Kolkata for a match against the Kolkata Knight Riders just two days later. Hence, the management wants Mayank to rest.
“That’s the plan [to have Mayank fit for the match against the Chennai Super Kings on April 19]. We want him to play every game if possible. But he’ll be working towards it; he’s working very hard every day to be ready for whatever our next game is. He won’t play tomorrow; it’s unlikely. With the very short turnaround, it’s unlikely that he plays these two games. But he’s certainly working towards playing whenever he possibly can,” concluded the coach.
