Cricket commentator Aakash Chopra highlighted the crucial IPL season for Ishan Kishan, emphasizing the need for impactful performances to regain his spot in the national team.
After Ishan Kishan’s exclusion from the annual BCCI contract, Aakash Chopra, the renowned commentator, outlined high stakes for Ishan Kishan ahead of the IPL season 2024. On his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra opined about the pre-season rankings for IPL, where Yashasvi Jaiswal-Jos Buttler and Ruturaj Gaikwad-Devon Conway were positioned as the top two opening pairs. Kishan-Rohit secured the third spot.
The cricket commentator stated, “There is nothing to prove per se, but, then, there is a lot to prove. I feel he will hit a lot as he is not the captain. Ishan Kishan will be hungry, as he has not got a central contract. This is the only thing he is playing. What else is he playing?”
Chopra further expressed that a remarkable IPL season can push Kishan’s spot in India’s T20 World Cup squad.
“Either he has himself opted not to play, or he won’t be selected now. So this is his chance. If you make the IPL your own, you have chances of going forward. Then there is, of course, Wankhede’s flat pitch. The ball will come nicely onto the bat and go far,” he concluded.
