Mayank Yadav Faces Prolonged Recovery
Mayank Yadav was ruled out of the England series due to a back injury, extending his absence since October 2024.
Young pacer Mayank Yadav is likely to miss India’s upcoming white-ball series against England, which includes five T20Is and three ODIs. The 22-year-old is recovering from a back injury and has not been named in the probables for Delhi’s Ranji Trophy fixture against Saurashtra, starting January 23.
“He’s suffering from a back injury and is unlikely to be fit for the England series. He hasn’t even been named amongst the probables for Delhi’s first Ranji match of the second leg against Saurashtra from January 23,” a source in the BCCI told The Times of India.
Yadav, who made his international debut in the T20I series against Bangladesh in October 2024 after an impressive IPL season with the Lucknow Super Giants, has been plagued by injuries. He missed the subsequent four-match T20I series against South Africa in November due to fitness issues and has not returned to action since.

The pacer has been undergoing rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru for the past few months. His last competitive match was on October 12, 2024, when he played the third T20I against Bangladesh in Hyderabad. Injuries also forced him to miss the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
In another development, according to sources, the selectors are expected to finalize the Indian squad for the T20I series, starting January 22 in Kolkata, before announcing the ODI side and Champions Trophy team around January 19.
