Mayank Yadav reflected on his remarkable IPL debut against Punjab Kings, where he heeded his captain’s advice to solely focus on bowling fast, resulting in a fiery performance.
In the recent IPL clash against Punjab Kings, Mayank Yadav, representing Lucknow Super Giants, emerged as the standout performer, captivating fans with his remarkable pace and skill. Despite it being his IPL debut at just 21 years old, Yadav made a striking impression with a remarkable delivery clocking at 155.8 kilometers per hour, the fastest of the tournament.
With three crucial wickets, Yadav played a vital role in Lucknow Super Giants’ victory, derailing Punjab’s pursuit of 200 runs.
In a post-match interview, Yadav admitted to initial nerves, swiftly overcome after his first delivery. He credited his impressive debut to the advice from his captain, Nicholas Pooran, who encouraged him to capitalize on his strengths and focus solely on bowling fast.
“I didn’t think that my debut was going to be this good. I have heard from everyone that there is nervousness but after bowling the first ball, the nerves settled. Everyone told me to bowl on the stumps and use the pace,” Yadav said at the post-match presentation.
“At first, I thought that I would need to bowl a lot more slower balls but after the wicket assisted me, my captain told me to only bowl fast,” he added.
Mayank Yadav’s pace posed a serious challenge for seasoned batters like Jonny Bairstow, who struggled to adapt to the relentless assault. Yadav highlighted Bairstow’s dismissal as his favorite moment, showcasing his ability to excel on the grand stage.
The win places LSG in 5th position on the league table, securing two points from two games and setting a promising trajectory for the team.
