Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh supported Marnus Labuschagne, assuring him that his recent form slump is temporary.
Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has expressed his support for teammate Marnus Labuschagne, who has been struggling with form in recent matches. Labuschagne’s form slump has been a topic of discussion, with former cricketer Mark Waugh recently sharing his concerns. However, Marsh, who has faced similar struggles himself, remains confident in the batsman’s ability to bounce back.
“I said to him, ‘Welcome to my first 35 Tests mate, that was me,'” Marsh stated on SEN WA Breakfast. “No, look, he’s been an incredible player for us, and he will be for a long time to come,” Marsh said, echoing the sentiments of captain Pat Cummins, who previously dismissed suggestions that Labuschagne could be dropped from the team.
“I think the good thing about our team is that we’ve always found a way to keep winning,” Marsh explained. “You know, guys’ form goes up and down, but he’s an incredible player. He’s an integral part of our team and there’s no doubt he’ll be in the runs soon.”
Labuschagne’s recent performances have been concerning, with scores of 10 or fewer in nine of his last 14 innings. He also failed to pass even five runs in his last five innings. Despite this, Marsh and the Australian team management remain confident in his ability to regain his form. The Australian batter will be seen playing his 50th Test match against New Zealand in Christchurch on March 8th.
