As the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League approaches, Chennai Super Kings’ all-rounder Moeen Ali showered praise on MS Dhoni, labeling him as both a special player and captain. With Dhoni at the helm, CSK has won the IPL title five times and the CLT20 twice.
Ali highlighted Dhoni’s tactical acumen, noting his ability to inspire victory even in challenging situations. Expressing excitement about sharing the dressing room with Dhoni, Ali emphasized the thrill of being part of a team led by someone renowned for their strategic brilliance.
“Everyone knows that Dhoni is a special player and a special captain. He is a very good guy. I have played three seasons but I don’t know what he is going to come up with. His strategic persona is really good. It is exciting as a player – what role he has for you. When you are playing for CSK with Dhoni as the captain, whether the team is weak or strong on paper, you always have a chance of winning,” Ali said to ESPNcricinfo.
Ali also discussed England’s prospects of retaining the upcoming T20 World Cup, starting on June 1. Drawing from lessons learned in the last ODI World Cup, he anticipates improved cricket performance from the team in the marquee tournament.
