Mohammed Shami Ruled Out Of Any Possibilities

BCCI ruled out every possibility of Mohammed Shami joining the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia after rumours flooded of his BGT participation.
The BCCI has confirmed that pacer Mohammed Shami will not be available for the remaining two Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. Shami has been undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) following a heel surgery. While he has shown significant progress, with a successful return to competitive cricket in the Ranji Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, a minor knee swelling has emerged.
“Shami bowled 43 overs in the Ranji Trophy match for Bengal against Madhya Pradesh in November. Following this, he played in all nine games of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT), where he also engaged in additional bowling sessions on the sidelines to build his bowling volume in order to get ready for the Test matches. However, his left knee has exhibited minor swelling due to increased joint loading from his bowling workload. The swelling is on the expected lines, owing to the increased bowling after a prolonged period,” the BCCI’s official report read.

The BCCI medical team, after careful assessment, has advised against his inclusion in the Test squad. The increased bowling workload has led to minor swelling in his knee, requiring further management and controlled exposure to bowling loads.

“Based on the current medical assessment, the BCCI Medical Team has determined that his knee requires more time for controlled exposure to bowling loads. Consequently, he has not been deemed fit for consideration for the remaining two Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy,” declared BCCI in the statement.
With BCCI’s confirmation, Shami will now continue his rehabilitation under the guidance of the NCA medical staff to ensure his full recovery. His participation in the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy will also now depend on the progress of his knee.
