CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed that MS Dhoni will not retire and will play for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2026.
MS Dhoni, the most capped player in IPL history, is set to continue his iconic journey with Chennai Super Kings in the 2026 season. Despite retiring from international cricket in 2020, the 44-year-old remains committed to the franchise he has led since the league’s inception.
CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed Dhoni’s participation in the upcoming season during a recent interaction featured on Provoke Lifestyle’s YouTube channel. Dhoni, retained for ₹4 crore ahead of the IPL 2025 auction, took CSK through another competitive campaign earlier this year.
“No, he is not going to retire,” Kasi said in the first video, and “No, he is not retiring for this (2026) IPL” in the second.
Kasi Viswanathan then expressed optimism about the team’s chances in IPL 2026, stating they are preparing well for a strong comeback. CSK endured a disappointing IPL 2025 season, winning only four of their 14 matches and finishing last in the standings for the first time in 18 years.
