MS Dhoni In Face Of Criticism
Dhoni has come under fire after Yograj Singh cited Irfan Pathan’s old claims that he favored only certain players who set up hookah for him.
MS Dhoni has found himself in the spotlight again despite staying away from cricket since the IPL 2025. A controversy erupted after an old interview of Irfan Pathan resurfaced online, where he discussed his exclusion from the Indian team in 2008 and hinted at a lack of communication with the then captain. The resurfaced comments triggered fresh debates within Indian cricket circles.
The issue escalated when Yograj Singh, father of Yuvraj Singh, openly criticized Dhoni. He alleged that several former cricketers, including Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh, and Pathan, had faced unfair treatment under Dhoni’s leadership. Yograj further questioned Dhoni’s silence over these claims, which he viewed as a sign of accountability being avoided.
“It is not only about Irfan Pathan. You see Gautam Gambhir speaking about it. Virender Sehwag openly said about it as well. Harbhajan Singh spoke about how he was put out of the team like a fly. You should arrange a jury on why he did what he did. MS Dhoni doesn’t want to answer. One who doesn’t want to answer has a guilty conscience,” Yograj told InsideSport.

“I talk about Bishan Singh Bedi, Kapil Dev, MS Dhoni. I can talk about people whom I have been with. They have treated people like s**t. Jo galat hai wo galat hai. Two wrongs cannot make one right. I say this openly, that our cricketers and team were destroyed by our captain,” he added.
Meanwhile, MS Dhoni has not responded to the ongoing controversy. However, Irfan Pathan broke his silence on Wednesday through a post on X. He clarified that the resurfaced video was several years old and accused certain groups of twisting its context to fuel unnecessary fan conflicts and online narratives.
