Mumbai Indians wicketkeeper-batter Vishnu Vinod has been replaced with Harvik Desai because the former suffers from a forearm injury.
In a recent development, wicketkeeper batter Vishnu Vinod has been ruled out of the remainder of the IPL 2024 because of an injury. The Mumbai Indians named wicketkeeper Harvik Desai as a replacement for Vinod.
According to the official release by BCCI, Vinod suffered an injury to his forearm. The official statement read, “Wicket-keeper batter Vishnu Vinod has been ruled out of the remainder of the TATA IPL 2024 owing to an injury to his forearm. The Mumbai Indians have signed Saurashtra wicketkeeper Harvik Desai as a replacement.”
The 2017 debutant Vishnu had played six matches so far in the IPL, amassing 56 runs with a strike rate of 98.25. The MI camp had acquired him for Rs 20 lakhs but had to let him go unfortunately because of his injury.
The 24-year-old Harvik, who replaced Vinod, has a century in all three formats of the game and was a member of the India U-19 team that won the World Cup in 2018. Harvik made his domestic debut across formats in the 2018-19 season and averages over 30 at an impressive strike rate of 134.17 in T20s. MI roped him in for Rs 20 lakhs, and he might be seen facing the Royal Challengers Bengaluru today, April 11th, at Wankhede.
