LSG’s fast bowler Mayank Yadav delivered a scorching performance against RCB, claiming his second consecutive Player of the Match award and expressing his wish to play for India.
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) fast bowler Mayank Yadav has become a force to be reckoned with in the ongoing IPL 2024 season. Following his fiery performance against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Yadav secured his second consecutive Player of the Match award.
While acknowledging the satisfaction of individual recognition, Yadav remained firmly focused on team success. “I feel very good about winning two POTM awards, but I am happier that we won both matches. [Favourite wicket?] Cameron Green’s. I think to bowl at this speed, a lot of things are important. Diet, sleep, and training. If you bowl fast, you have to be perfect at a lot of things. So right now, I focus a lot on my diet and recovery,” Yadav said in a post-match interview, as quoted by India Today.
His ultimate goal, however, lies beyond the IPL. “My aim is to play for India as much as possible. So I feel this is just the start, and my main goal is what I am focused on,” Yadav declared, expressing his ambition to represent India at the international level.
Speaking of the match, Yadav’s spell against the RCB was nothing short of scorching. He consistently clocked speeds exceeding 150 kmph, with a peak of 156.7 kmph. Despite some resistance from RCB, Yadav’s ability to maintain pressure and pick up crucial wickets at critical moments proved decisive in LSG’s dominant victory. Yadav bowled 16 dot balls and maintained figures of 3 for 14 in his spell of four overs.
The 21-year-old young pacer of LSG will be next seen playing against the Gujarat Titans on April 7th at Lucknow.
