In the third match of the T20 World Cup 2024, Namibia secured a thrilling victory against Oman, winning by 11 runs in the Super Over.

Namibia won the toss and opted to bowl, a decision that paid off brilliantly. Ruben Trumpelmann struck early, taking two wickets in the first over. Namibia’s bowlers maintained control, with Trumpelmann finishing with four wickets and David Wiese adding three more to restrict Oman to a modest total of 109.

Chasing 110 to win, Namibia had a shaky start. Jan Frylinck’s steady knock of 45 runs kept Namibia in the game, but it was David Wiese who leveled the scores, forcing a Super Over. In the Super Over, Wiese excelled again, scoring 21 runs and then defending that total to secure Namibia’s victory.

In the first innings, Oman struggled early with the bat as their top order collapsed. However, the middle order, led by Zeeshan Maqsood, fought back. Khalid Kail scored 34 runs, and Shakeel Ahmed added some late runs to push Oman past 100.

Despite the modest total, Oman came out strong with the ball. Bilal Khan took a wicket in the first over, and the bowlers kept the pressure on. Spinners controlled the middle overs, and Mehran Khan’s medium pace took 3 wickets, nearly defending 4 runs in the final over. However, a fumble by the keeper allowed Namibia to force a Super Over. In the Super Over, Namibia outperformed Oman, sealing the 11-run win. This close loss will be tough for Oman to accept.
