Nathan Ellis was ruled out of Australia’s T20I series against Scotland and the upcoming England tour due to a hamstring injury.
Australia’s bowling lineup has taken a hit during their T20I tour of Scotland, with pacer Nathan Ellis ruled out for the remainder of the series due to a hamstring injury. The 29-year-old seamer will also miss the upcoming England tour, where Australia is set to play three T20Is and five ODIs.
Nathan Ellis, who was set to lead the bowling attack in Scotland, sustained the injury during The Hundred tournament, forcing him to sit out the opening T20I. Cricket Australia confirmed on Friday that Ellis has not recovered and will be returning home.
In his absence, Josh Hazlewood, initially sidelined with a calf injury, has joined the squad in England ahead of the first T20I scheduled for September 11 in Southampton. Riley Meredith, who was called up to replace Hazlewood for the Scotland leg, will remain with the team as cover.
For the unaware, Australia began the series in dominant fashion, defeating Scotland by seven wickets in the first T20I in Edinburgh. Sean Abbott shone with the ball, claiming figures of 3 for 39 from his four overs, restricting Scotland to 154.

Although Australia lost debutant Jake Fraser-McGurk for a duck in the first over, captain Mitchell Marsh and opener Travis Head orchestrated a blistering response, propelling Australia to a record powerplay score of 113 in T20I cricket.
Marsh (39) and Head (80) both fell short of finishing the game, but Australia chased down the target in just 9.4 overs. Head, for his explosive 25-ball knock, was awarded Player of the Match. The visitors now aim to secure the series with a win in the second T20I on Friday.
