Nitish Rana, known for his consistent performances with Kolkata Knight Riders, has set his sights on improvement for IPL 2024, with aspirations of earning a spot in India’s T20 World Cup squad. Despite making his international debut in 2021, Rana faced limited opportunities and gradually faded from the national scene.
However, following a successful domestic season with Uttar Pradesh, the Rana is determined to shine in the IPL and amass 600 runs, aiming for a comeback into the national side. In an interview with the Times of India, Rana emphasized the importance of focusing on the present, expressing his belief in achieving his target while keeping his ultimate goal of representing India firmly in mind.
“Everyone wants to play for the country and many players will have it in the back of their mind, but we have to stay in the present. I too want to get selected for the World T20 squad, but at this moment I am thinking only about the IPL. I believe I can get 600 runs in this tournament and I will be aiming for that,” Rana said.
In the previous IPL season, Nitish Rana showcased his batting by scoring 413 runs in 14 matches with a strike rate of 140.95.
Notably, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have addressed their death over bowling concerns by securing Australian pacer Mitchell Starc for a whopping INR 24.75 crore. Rana expressed confidence in Starc’s abilities, noting his experience and belief that the price tag won’t affect his performance.
Despite the lack of experienced pacers, Rana also highlighted the importance of spinners in controlling the game, emphasizing the team’s overall strategy. KKR is set to kick off their IPL campaign against SRH on March 23rd.
