In a low-scoring thriller, Babar Azam’s crucial knock led Pakistan to a 3-wicket victory over Ireland, ending their T20 World Cup campaign on a winning note.

Pakistan secured a 3-wicket win over Ireland in Florida, with Babar Azam anchoring the chase with a gritty knock. Chasing a low total of 107, Pakistan started cautiously, scoring 40 runs in the powerplay and losing just one wicket. However, the middle order struggled, losing five wickets for 23 runs.

Babar Azam steadied the innings, scoring 32 runs, and formed a crucial 33-run partnership with Abbas Afridi, who added 17 runs. As the game neared its end, Shaheen Afridi’s powerful hitting, including two sixes, sealed the win for Pakistan. Despite a disappointing T20 World Cup campaign, Pakistan ended on a high note with this win over Ireland.

Ireland’s bowling effort was commendable, especially in the middle phase. Barry McCarthy was outstanding, taking 3 wickets for 15 runs in his 4 overs. Curtis Campher contributed with 2 wickets, while Mark Adair and Ben White took one each.

Earlier, after being put into bat first, Ireland’s innings started disastrously, losing 5 wickets within the powerplay. They were reeling at 32 for 7 but managed to add 74 runs for the last three wickets, giving themselves a fighting chance. Joshua Little, Gareth Delany, Mark Adair, and George Dockrell were the only batters to reach double figures.

For Pakistan, Imad Wasim was the standout bowler with 3 wickets for just 8 runs in his 4 overs. Shaheen Afridi also took 3 wickets, while Mohammad Amir claimed 2, and Haris Rauf took 1.
