SRH skipper Pat Cummins praised Abhishek Sharma, calling him a scary batter to bowl to because of his freedom and skill against both pacers and spinners.
In the IPL 2024 match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Sunrisers Hyderabad secured a crucial 4-wicket victory over Punjab Kings to boost their chances for a second-place finish in the 2024 Indian Premier League group stage. Punjab Kings set a challenging target of 215 runs, led by Prabhsimran Singh’s impressive 71, supported by Atharva Thaide and Rilee Rossouw. In response, SRH successfully chased down the total with five wickets in hand.
Abhishek Sharma shined with a stellar 66-run innings, complemented by Heinrich Klaasen’s 42 and Nitish Kumar Reddy’s 37. Pat Cummins, SRH’s skipper, praised the team’s home support and camaraderie. He highlighted Abhishek Sharma as a strong batsman and commended Nitish Kumar Reddy for his consistent performances this season, emphasizing Abhishek’s fearless approach against all types of bowling.
“It’s pretty cool, it’s awesome. We have won 6 out of 7 here, it has been great and amazing. I didn’t know many guys coming into this season, but we have played great cricket and had some fun. Great bunch of guys,” Cummins said in the post-match presentation.
“He (Abhishek) is amazing. I wouldn’t want to bowl to him. It’s scary as he plays with freedom, not only against pacers but also against spinners. Nitish is a class player, looks mature beyond his age, and seems to sum up the game really well, he is perfect for our top-order. Really satisfying and exciting We are playing some really good cricket, excited for what’s ahead,” he added.

Abhishek’s partnership with Travis Head has been crucial in Sunrisers Hyderabad’s batting lineup, contributing significantly to their success in IPL 2024.
