Prasidh Krishna will miss India A’s first Duleep Trophy match against India B due to delayed recovery from a quad injury, despite being expected to return after surgery earlier this year.
The 2024-25 Indian domestic season is set to begin with the Duleep Trophy on Thursday, September 5. This year, the tournament will feature teams India A, B, C, and D, competing in a round-robin format instead of the traditional zonal system. The opening match will see India A face India B at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
However, India A pacer Prasidh Krishna will miss the first game of the season. Krishna, who was expected to return from a quad injury, has been ruled out due to not achieving full-match fitness. This delay follows his absence from the 2024 IPL, where he missed the entire season after undergoing surgery in February.
There is no update on Prasidh Krishna’s replacement for the Duleep Trophy as of now. Following his quad injury surgery, Krishna has been rehabilitating at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. He last played for India during the South Africa tour in December-January and is nearing full match fitness. Krishna may still feature in later rounds of the Duleep Trophy before the Ranji Trophy begins.
Notably, Prasidh Krishna’s absence adds to a list of top players missing the Duleep Trophy for various reasons. Suryakumar Yadav’s return to red-ball cricket has been delayed due to a hand injury from the Buchi Babu tournament. Mohammed Siraj and Umran Malik were withdrawn due to dengue fever, while Ravindra Jadeja was removed from India B.
