After India’s win against Bangladesh at the newly-built Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, Rahul Dravid praised the swift construction of the facilities but highlighted concerns about the softness of the ground.
After India’s resounding win over Bangladesh by 60 runs in a warm-up match at the recently constructed Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, Rahul Dravid, the team’s head coach, offered his perspective on the pitch conditions. Dravid, impressed by the rapid construction of the facilities completed in just 103 days, highlighted a concern regarding the softness of the ground. He noted that the softness caused some discomfort to the players’ hamstrings and calves, emphasizing the importance of caution to prevent injuries.
In a video shared on social media by the BCCI, Dravid expressed gratitude for the opportunity to play at the stadium but stressed the need to address the softness issue. Despite the challenge, he commended the team’s ability to adapt and cope well with the conditions.
“It’s great to get a good it-out. Obviously, it looks like a good facility in terms of as quickly as they have put up. the ground is a bit soft the guys could feel that on the hamstring and the calves. So that’s the area we need to ensure that we are working around and ensuring that the guys are looking after does feel a little bit heavy underneath,” Dravid said.
Looking ahead, Dravid expressed optimism about the team’s preparation for future matches, hoping for improved conditions and readiness in the coming days.
“A little bit spongy at times but I thought we coped really well, we managed that really well. The batters had put an above-par score on that wicket and the bowlers came out and bowled really well. All and all we got run-around and to get a game here is really nice. hopefully we can prepare well for the next couple of days and be ready,” he added.
