Rajat Patidar on captaincy
Rajat Patidar shared his thoughts on leading RCB and playing in their annual green jersey match against Rajasthan Royals.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are set to take on Rajasthan Royals in the 28th match of IPL 2025 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on April 13. Ahead of the match, RCB skipper Rajat Patidar addressed the media and spoke about his captaincy journey and the significance of the green jersey game.
As part of their annual initiative to promote environmental awareness, RCB will wear their special green jersey. The franchise has continued its tradition of supporting sustainability and reinforcing its identity as a carbon-neutral team.
Rajat Patidar, who has led RCB in five matches so far this season, said he is not feeling any added pressure as captain. Instead, he prefers to focus on his strengths and contribute with the bat.

“I see myself as captain when I’m on the field, but when I’m batting, I don’t feel the pressure of being a captain. I focus on my strengths with the bat and avoid feeling like I have to do something different just because I am leading the team. Even in domestic cricket, I try to stay in the moment and do my best for the team,” Patidar told reporters.
The right-handed batter has led RCB to three wins in the five games he has captained.
When asked about playing at different venues, Patidar said he prefers to focus on the game rather than the location.
“We take it one game at a time. If everyone is confident, we look to make the most of it. We’ll focus on playing good cricket, not focus on which venue it is. It’s a special game for us with our green initiative, and wearing the green jersey makes it even more special and exciting,” he added.
RCB have had better success on the road this season, securing wins against Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Mumbai Indians at their respective home venues. However, their two defeats came at their home ground, the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, against Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals.
RCB currently sit fifth on the IPL 2025 points table with six points. Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals are placed seventh, having won two out of their five matches.
