Recently, Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin praised pacer Jasprit Bumrah for his exceptional contributions to Indian cricket, calling him the “Kohinoor diamond of Indian Cricket”. Ashwin applauded Bumrah’s consistency and ability to lead India’s pace attack with precision.
One of the key highlights of the recently concluded first Test against Bangladesh was Bumrah’s much-anticipated return to Test cricket after nearly six months. The spotlight was on the 30-year-old as he made his comeback in the red-ball format, and as expected, Bumrah played a vital role in India’s comprehensive victory.
Ashwin Laud’s Bumrah’s Contribution in First Test
In the first innings, Bumrah took four wickets, followed by another in the second innings, bringing his tally to five wickets in the match. His return proved crucial for India’s bowling attack.
Speaking on his YouTube channel after the first Test, Ashwin praised Bumrah for his unwavering effort. “Jasprit Bumrah is a fast bowler. He bowls at 145 km/h even under the scorching sun. He works so hard, and he is the crown jewel of Indian cricket. Just like the Kohinoor diamond was taken, today, the Kohinoor diamond of Indian cricket is Jasprit Bumrah,” Ashwin said.

He added that Bumrah’s determination and exceptional skills have cemented his place as India’s best fast bowler. “His talent speaks for itself, and it’s undeniable,” Ashwin concluded. India now turns its focus to the second and final Test of the series against Bangladesh, set to begin on Friday, September 27, at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur.
