Ravindra Jadeja took to Instagram and announced his retirement from T20Is, stepping down after Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

Ravindra Jadeja has become the latest Indian cricketer to announce his retirement from Twenty20 Internationals, following in the footsteps of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. His news of retirement comes a day after India’s historic victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup final.

Jadeja, a veteran in the Indian T20I team for over a decade, represented India in 74 matches. He contributed significantly with both bat and ball, scoring 515 runs and taking 54 wickets. His highest T20I score of 46* came against England in 2022, while his most impressive bowling performance was a 3/15 spell against Scotland during the 2021 T20 World Cup.

Taking to Instagram, Jadeja announced his retirement with a heartfelt message: “With a heart full of gratitude, I bid farewell to T20 Internationals. Like a steadfast horse galloping with pride, I’ve always given my best for my country and will continue to do so in other formats. Winning the T20 World Cup was a dream come true and the pinnacle of my T20 international career. Thank you for the memories, the cheers, and the unwavering support. Jai Hind.”

The post has garnered immense support from fans, with over 300,000 likes within a short time. Many have lauded Jadeja’s contribution, with some even calling him the best fielder in T20I history.

Similar to Kohli, Jadeja participated in five T20 World Cups before finally achieving victory in his sixth attempt. His journey began in the 2009 edition, where he made his T20 World Cup debut against England. He continued to be a part of the Indian team in the 2010, 2014, 2016, and 2021 tournaments, with his most impactful performances coming in the 2021 edition, where he bagged two Player of the Match awards.

Jadeja’s decision to retire from T20Is marks a shift in India’s T20I squad, with three senior players opting to step down following their World Cup triumph.
