Yash Dayal’s father, Chanderpal Dayal, recently revealed that the RCB camp celebrated CSK victory till early in the morning.
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru enjoyed a thrilling run in the IPL 2024 playoffs, stringing together six consecutive wins to secure a spot. A nail-biting victory against the Chennai Super Kings was particularly significant, with young pacer Yash Dayal emerging as the hero in the final over.
According to Yash’s father, Chanderpal Dayal, the RCB camp erupted in celebration after defeating CSK. He revealed to IANS that the team partied until 5 AM, exhilarated about reaching the next stage of the tournament.
“Yash told his mother that the after-match party lasted till 5 AM. He was so happy. He also mentioned that even after getting hit for a six by MS Dhoni on the first ball of the final over, he managed to control himself and focus on bowling, not getting intimidated by the batter, whether it was Dhoni or Jadeja,” Chanderpal said.
Yash’s composure under pressure in the final over against CSK was commendable. He conceded only seven runs, securing a crucial win for RCB.
However, his performance in the eliminator clash against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) was not as impressive. Dayal conceded a costly 37 runs in just 3 overs, failing to pick up any wickets. This made him the most expensive bowler for RCB in the match, leaking runs at an economy rate of 12.30 per over.

Unfortunately, RCB’s dream run in the playoffs ended with their loss to the Royals. This defeat also added an unwanted record to their name, being the team with the most playoff losses in IPL history. Despite reaching the playoffs, RCB’s wait for their first IPL title continues into the next season.
Meanwhile, the IPL 2024 Qualifier 2 will be played today, i.e., on May 24th, between the Rajasthan Royals and the Sunrisers Hyderabad at MA Chidambaram Stadium.
