Rinku Singh, despite missing out on playing time and the World Cup squad, celebrated KKR’s IPL win and expressed his dream of lifting the World Cup with India.
Kolkata Knight Riders batter Rinku Singh was a picture of pure joy after his team clinched their third IPL title on Sunday night. The Shreyas Iyer-led KKR defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 8 wickets at Chepauk, Chennai.
Despite limited playing time this season and missing out on a spot in India’s T20 World Cup squad, Rinku remained enthusiastic during the celebrations. He was even seen video-calling Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, who is currently in the USA for the World Cup.
“Bhaiyya, I’m coming on 28th,” Rinku said to Pant during the call, hinting at his departure to join the Indian team. Watch the video below:
With the IPL trophy in hand, Rinku expressed his fulfilment in a video uploaded by the IPL. “I’ve been playing with this team for seven years now, and this is the first time I’m getting an opportunity to lift the IPL trophy. I am truly very happy,” he said.

However, Rinku’s ambition doesn’t stop here. “A dream of mine is fulfilled, but there’s one more—the World Cup. I’ll be leaving for the US in a few days, all alone, which will be tough for me. But I will lift the World Cup for sure,” he declared with confidence.
In a separate interview, Rinku acknowledged the team effort behind KKR’s success and praised the influence of mentor Gautam Gambhir. “You can’t credit just one person because everyone has worked hard. Since GG (Gautam Gambhir) sir came, a lot of things have changed. Sending Sunil early, he batted so well,” Rinku concluded.
